TechSmith is an East Lansing based software engineering company specializing in the creation of software supporting businesses to create and share professional quality content. Founded in 1987, TechSmith grew exponentially in the last 10 years and found themselves occupying 5 separate buildings to house their nearly 300 employees. TechSmith engaged KMG to serve as their representative to help develop a new headquarters campus. Beginning with a detailed space and growth analysis of their current operations, KMG developed a creative solution for their new business model. Then led them through a competitive real estate site search, solicitation for a developer willing to capitalize and lease back this state-of-the-art building. Eventually selecting the MSU Foundation to partner with, KMG represented TechSmith through all phases of the project. Midway through the design process, a completely new occupancy model was developed because of the COVID19 pandemic.
Having experienced a highly efficient process of remote work, TechSmith decided to change to a hybrid work environment. Reducing the size of the building but maintaining the highly collaborative and flexible workspaces transformed their building into a unique environment. KMG managed the design modification process, and helped TechSmith achieve their project goals of creating a highly collaborative, and flexible hybrid work space for their growing workforce.
