The KMG team served as Michigan State University owner’s representative for the $88.1 million biomedical research laboratory in West Michigan. We have served in this capacity for over 4 years and have led MSU through several strategic initiatives to enable this project. Multiple feasibility studies, cost scenario development, P3 Procurement strategies, and other analytic methods were used to allow this project to proceed. The project was completed in 2017 with Clark Construction as the Construction Manager. The project included:
- Demolition and hazardous material abatement of the 175,000 square foot former Grand Rapids Press Building including necessary site utility relocation and preparation work
- 160,000 square-feet of bio-medical research space provided on six levels will support the efforts of more than 200 scientists working to advance their research, collaborate with peer institutions, and improve lives.
- LEED-certified flexible research facility designed to use 70% less energy than the national average for laboratory type buildings
